  • The Esther Fast: A 3-Day Global Call for Mothers to Pray, Fast, and Rise (March 23–25, 2026)

In a world filled with uncertainty, pressure, and rapid change, one question continues to echo across generations:

“Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” – Esther 4:14

At Intentional Parenting, we believe that this is not just a question for Esther it is a call to mothers today.

From March 23–25, 2026, we are inviting mothers across the globe to join us for The Esther Fast—a powerful 3-day journey of prayer, fasting, and spiritual alignment for our children, families, and the next generation. This will happen via Whatsapp, you can join the community here

Why Mothers Need to Rise in This Season?

We are living in a complex global moment shaped by:

    Economic instability affecting households.

Political uncertainty across nations. Cultural identity challenges for children.

The growing influence of digital spaces on young minds.

Migration and diaspora realities impacting family life.

As mothers, we are not just raising children—we are raising a generation in the middle of all of this.

And just like Esther we have been positioned for such a time as this.

    What Is The Esther Fast?

The Esther Fast is inspired by Esther 4:16, where Esther calls for a fast before stepping into a moment that would change the destiny of her people.

This is more than a fast from food—it is a time of:

    -Spiritual consecration

    -Intentional prayer for our children.

    – Seeking wisdom as mothers.

    – Standing in the gap for our families and communities.

Our Journey Through the Book of Esther

Here at Intentional Parenting, in our 6am prayers, we have been reading and praying through the Book of Esther together as a community since February.

Through this devotional journey, we have reflected on:

    🙏🏽Courage in uncertain environments

    🙏🏽Wisdom in navigating complex systems

🙏🏽The power of influence and timing

    🙏🏽The importance of intercession

We have seen how God can use ordinary women in extraordinary moments to shape history.

And now, we are stepping into that truth through this fast.

Inspired by the courage of Esther, the 3-day fast is a call for mothers to rise in prayer, intercession, and spiritual authority for their children, families, and this generation.

“Go, gather together all the Jews… and fast for me… I will go to the king…” – Esther 4:16

     PURPOSE OF THE FAST

This is not just about abstaining from food.

    It is about:

    -Spiritual alignment.

    -Interceding for your children’s future.

    -Seeking wisdom in uncertain times.

    – Standing in the gap for your family and community.

    ⚠️ HOW TO FAST (GUIDELINES)

Choose what is appropriate for your health and capacity:

Option 1: 6am–4pm fast (water allowed)

Option 2: Partial fast, may be skip just one meal eg breakfast finish fasting at 1 or 2pm, or one meal a day / Daniel-style

Option 3: Social/media fast (reduce noise, increase focus)

👉 Key principle: Replace what you remove with prayer, Word, and reflection.

🕊️ POSTURE FOR THE 3 DAYS

    Be intentional (set prayer times)

Be honest (bring your fears and burdens to God)

Be expectant (God still responds to intercession)

    📌Create a quiet space daily.

    The goal is simple:

👉 Create space for God to speak and move.

Why This Fast Matters Now More Than Ever?

In the story of Esther silence was not an option.

Her courage changed the destiny of a generation.

Today, mothers are facing different battles—but the calling remains the same.

    We are called to:

    🙏🏽Pray intentionally

  • February and March is an Esther Season: An Invitation to Pray as an Intentional Mother

February often arrives quietly, yet it carries a weight many mothers feel deeply.

The year has begun, expectations are high, and for many families, the realities of parenting in uncertain economic, social, and global times are settling in. It is in moments like these that faith is not just comforting — it becomes essential.

This February and March we are inviting mothers to journey through the Book of Esther in prayer — not as a history lesson, but as a guide for intentional, faith-led motherhood for such a time as this.

Why the Book of Esther Matters for Mothers Today?

The story of Esther unfolds during a time of political tension, uncertainty, and real threat. She did not live in ease or predictability — yet God positioned her with purpose.

    Esther teaches us that:

☘️Preparation often happens in hidden seasons.

🌿Courage is required when clarity is incomplete.

🌱Faith sometimes looks like showing up anyway.

For mothers today, this resonates deeply.

    We are raising children amid:

    -Economic pressure and rising costs.

    -Constant exposure to distressing news.

    – Cultural shifts that challenge values and identity.

Like Esther, many mothers are quietly asking:

How do I remain steady, faithful, and intentional in times like these?

Parenting in Uncertain Times Requires Anchoring, Not Alarm.

Intentional parenting is not about having all the answers.

It is about being anchored — emotionally, spiritually, and relationally.

When mothers pray, reflect, and gather in community:

    ✨Anxiety is replaced with discernment.

    ⭐️Fear gives way to wisdom.

🌟 Parenting becomes purposeful rather than reactive.

The Esther story reminds us that God works through women who are willing to pause, pray, and respond with courage — even when the outcome is unknown.

    Introducing the Esther Prayer Journey.

Throughout February and March, Intentional Parenting is hosting a focused prayer journey for mothers, rooted in the Book of Esther.

You Don’t Have to Walk This Season Alone!

If you long to parent with faith rather than fear,

For Such a Time as This.

Esther’s story reminds us that God places women intentionally — within families, communities, and generations — to nurture courage, faith, and hope.

This is not just another season.

    It is an invitation.

    📌To pray.

    📍To prepare.

    🔑To parent intentionally.

For such a time as this.

  • Parenting support and services

Support for Parents Who Want Calm, Confidence and Connection.

Parenting is one of the most important roles we hold — yet many parents are left navigating it alone, unsure whether they’re doing “enough” or responding in the right way.

Intentional Parenting was created to change that.

I’m Fadzai, a parenting consultant, safeguarding lead and community builder. Through Intentional Parenting, I support parents who want to raise emotionally secure, resilient children while building calm, connected family life.

This space is for parents who are not looking for perfection — but for clarity, confidence and practical support that fits real life.

    What Is Intentional Parenting?

Intentional parenting is about making thoughtful choices, even in the middle of busy, messy family life.

    It’s about:

Understanding behaviour rather than reacting to it. Strengthening communication and emotional connection. Parenting in line with your values, not pressure or fear. Creating safe, supportive environments where children can thrive.

At Intentional Parenting, support is compassionate, practical and grounded in real-world parenting challenges.

    How I Support Parents

My work focuses on four key areas of parenting support:

    🌿 Emotional Wellbeing & Behaviour

Helping parents understand emotions, manage challenging behaviour and reduce overwhelm at home.

    🗣 Communication & Connection

Supporting stronger relationships through calm communication, boundaries and repair after conflict.

🧭 Intentional Parenting & Family Life

Helping parents move from reactive parenting to intentional routines, rhythms and values-led family life.

    🛡 Safeguarding & Family Safety

Supporting parents to confidently protect their children’s wellbeing through everyday safeguarding and early support.

These services are offered through 1:1 parenting coaching, group cohorts, community spaces and workshops.

A Different Kind of Parenting Support.

Intentional Parenting is not about quick fixes or one-size-fits-all advice.

    It is about:

Walking alongside parents. Creating space for reflection and growth. Offering tools that work in everyday family life. Supporting parents before challenges become crises.

Parents come for support at all stages — whether navigating early childhood, school transitions, adolescence, or simply wanting to parent with more intention.

  • Loving your children

As a working migrant community, creating time to bond with your children is very important.

Our children are competing for our attention with Shifts, black tax, social media, our mobile phones parental fatigue and stress. So what can we do?

Below are 5 tips that I have used myself and many other parents I work with , with positive results.

    1. Establish a Morning or Evening Ritual

    • Use the time before or after your shifts to bond. For example, have breakfast together or create a bedtime routine like reading a story, talking about the day, or sharing a quick prayer or song. This creates consistency and helps your child feel connected. Eat at the dinner table with no TV on. For those who work long shifts, connect via whatsapp, face time etc. Have a virtual catch up , negotiate your break times so you can connect with your children.

    2. Maximize Your Days Off

    • Dedicate your off days to family-focused activities like visiting parks, museums, or simply cooking and eating together. Plan these activities ahead of time to make the most of them. Involve your child in choosing the activities to build anticipation and excitement. Most National Trust places are very good for spending time as a family. More detail here

    3. Incorporate Quality Moments into Everyday Tasks

    • Turn chores or errands into fun bonding opportunities. For instance, involve your children in meal prep or grocery shopping by assigning them small tasks, like picking ingredients or organizing items at home. Play music while cooking, share your childhood playlist with them and what it was like growing up. Let them share their own playlist as well, who is their favourite artist? You will be killing so many birds with this activity from family history, present culture to understanding each others likes. Enjoy!

    4. Use Technology Thoughtfully

    • If you work long shifts or overnight, use video calls to check in during breaks or before bedtime. Leave a heartfelt message or short video for them to watch when they wake up if you’re not there.

    5. Focus on Active Listening During Limited Time

    • When you’re with your children, give them your full attention. Ask open-ended questions about their day and feelings. Avoid distractions like your phone, so they feel valued and understood. Here at intentional parenting we did a challenge a few years ago where we encouraged parents to leave their phones upstairs the first hour they get home from work. This challenge yielded incredible results. Would you try it?,

    6. It’s very important to extend grace and compassion to yourself as a parent during tough seasons of parenting. May be you are a lone parent, establish a community around you to help. Be clear and communicate your VISION as a parent so your children can understand and marry into it. If you need help to put strategies in place , speak to someone or just get some advice , get in touch with Fadzai

Balancing work and parenting is challenging, but intentional efforts can help you stay close to your children and nurture their emotional well-being.

What else can you add to this?

    Every blessing

    Fadzai x

  • Self acceptance

Today our journal reading was on Self acceptance.

Self-acceptance is a crucial aspect of mental and emotional well-being. Here are some strategies for fostering self-acceptance, along with relevant Bible verses for spiritual encouragement:

    1. Practice Self-Compassion

Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer to a friend.

    • Bible Verse: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:32

    2. Focus on Your Strengths

Identify and celebrate your strengths and achievements, rather than dwelling on weaknesses or failures.

    • Bible Verse: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13

    3. Embrace Your Uniqueness

Recognize that you are unique and that your individuality is a gift.

    • Bible Verse: “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” – Psalm 139:13-14

    4. Forgive Yourself

Let go of past mistakes and forgive yourself, understanding that everyone makes errors.

    • Bible Verse: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9

    5. Practice Gratitude

Regularly reflect on and express gratitude for the positive aspects of your life.

    • Bible Verse: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

    6. Set Realistic Goals

Set achievable goals and celebrate your progress, no matter how small.

    • Bible Verse: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

    7. Surround Yourself with Supportive People

Build a community of friends and family who uplift and encourage you. Our intentional parenting whatsapp group is a community of hardworking, committed mothers who are willing to build a village.

    • Bible Verse: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:11

    8. Take Care of Your Body

Engage in activities that promote physical health, as this can enhance your mental and emotional well-being. This may we have embarked on #10kintentionalwalk challenge in aid of our mental health.

    • Bible Verse: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19

    9. Engage in Mindfulness and Prayer

Practice mindfulness and prayer to center yourself and connect with your spirituality. Our 6am club is a cornerstone and safe space to start the day. We do prayers Monday- Friday 6am-6:30am.

    • Bible Verse: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” – Philippians 4:6

    10. Accept God’s Unconditional Love

Remember that God’s love for you is unconditional and everlasting.

    • Bible Verse: “Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:39

By integrating these strategies and reflecting on these Bible verses, you can nurture a sense of self-acceptance that is rooted in both personal growth and spiritual understanding.

    Hope this helps.

    stay blessed

    stay intentional 🌱

  • Hey Q

Prayer for my son on your birthday

Becoming your mama was and continues to be my greatest legacy. Growing together has been exhilarating, exciting and challenging at most times. Can’t wait for what the future holds. Intentional parenting is you son. Thank you for the many lessons learnt that I get to share with other parents. Thank you for your patience as I continually learn how to mother you better. Thank you for your understanding that at most times, I am winging it with you. Thank you for the grace you extend when I am able to get it right with your sister. I love being your mama.
So today on your birthday I pray that you continually know who you are in God’s eyes. I pray that your light will shine brighter before your generation. I pray that you never have to doubt yourself, second guess Gods purpose and capabilities that are in you. I pray that you will continue to rest in the love we have for you as your parents. I ask God to lead and guide you all the days of your life. Above all I pray that you will walk in Gods purpose, utilising all the gifts and talents that God has given you. I pray for your friends who are your greatest social capita, that they would love you sincerely, be there for you faithfully and that they would encourage you in all things. Quinton, I pray that in all things you will allow your faith to speak louder than your fears.

Thank you for being an exceptional man of God. A man of integrity and honour. Your diligence and fortitude is admirable. Your mind is beautiful son. I am deeply honoured to not only love but raise you. I promise to continuously learn and dedicate my life to being your steward and Gods servant into your life.

    Love you always MaiQ.

  • Facebook live

Thank you very much to all those who joined us at 3pm GMT. We were talking the challenges of parenting and Below is a short summary of some of the take-aways from the session.

✨Remember in our parenting journey, connection with our children is key. Be available mentally, emotionally and physically.

✨Prioritise your children. Let your diary and commitments reflect that. Remember with children love is spelt TIME.

✨It’s ok and totally acceptable as an african parent to apologise to your children when you get things wrong.

🌟Faith community leaders, please have a heart for families. Do not hide under political correctness. Remember ‘what would Jesus do?’ and do just that. Consider the single parent homes with the heart of our Lord Jesus.

We explored in depth the issue of supporting single parent homes and providing mentorship for vulnerable young men. There were issues around married men/pastors and leaders being fearful of supporting a single mother and worrying about being accused of all sorts of things. I concluded that if the CHURCH does not step in to have an impact on the congregants, someone else will and many a times these are bad guys that we don’t want near our children/ community. If we look at the county lines model; the drug dealer simply befriends and entice our children with gifts and promise of a bright future. We can adopt the same model. If youth pastors/ leaders took the same interest in our children, understand what they like, their fears, vulnerability, I believe we will win SOME of them over.

We encouraged faith communities to have properly, well structured programs with safeguarding processes in place to offer mentorship programs.

Jesus was very controversial in most of his relationships, driven by compassion and love for the marginalised as well as vulnerable. Remember the Samaritan woman at well? She had a thing with men yet Jesus risked all that.

For parents struggling with children, please seek help. Don’t stew at home. There is a lot of help available from local authorities to charities such as Migrant Family Support and Father 2 father

For more in-depth conversation, listen to link below:

Remember you are not alone 💕

  • The blessing that makes one rich and adds no sorrow ❤

What a privilege it is to wake up to God’s promises!

I was looking through the photos and came across this family photo that was taken last August 2016 in Copenhagen. It melted my heart. God has been good and gracious to us.

It has not always been like this. As a family, we have had our share of ups and downs, we have struggled as well as felt overwhelmed. We have also felt like giving up on each other as a couple as well as sending our children to be with grandparents in Zimbabwe.

Life is challenging, family life is complex. For us parenting in diaspora made the whole mix extremely complex. The lack of social support and extended family makes it challenging. Our expectations for each other and our children change and keep on changing. That’s growth right?

Growth is a great thing as long as you do it together as a family. It’s very easy to grow apart especially here in UK due to work patterns and economic demands coupled by Black Tax. As our children have grown, we have decided to be an INTENTIONAL couple. We normally have a scheduled time daily, no phones and just us 2, to catch up on each other. I have taken working hours that are more family friendly as well so I can be home with the kids. It takes sacrifice and communicating your vision to each other as a family and to the wider extended family circles. Happy couples make great parents.

The greatest thing we did is, we decided to partner with God. We realised we just couldn’t make it on our own. There is so much peace that one has when you handover something to someone else, it becomes their issue and agenda.

I remember when our amazing daughter was born. It was hubby’s first hand experience of looking after a baby all by himself.  Our wonderful son was born in Zim with all the help from extended family and nannies. The first day I left the three of them, I cried all the way to the nursing placement. I was worried about how hubby would cope with the baby as he was working  nights as well. We had decided that I would stay on the nursing course despite all health and safety issues from University and Occupational health. Indeed, I went to Uni on a Friday and gave birth on the Sunday.  Being on 3year student visa, we didn’t want to jeopardise that. I returned to placement when baby was only two weeks old. Those are the unspoken sacrifices that migrants make due to government policies. Those who have experienced Home office service, beaurocracy and the extortius fees know what I mean.

No words can describe what a blessing our daughter is, incredibly strong willed, feisty, loving, caring, smart and definitely a daddy’s girl. I learnt to be focused and strategic as a mum of 2 and mature student. Since giving birth, all my assignments were completed with A grades. I couldn’t afford to fail. That was followed by passing my much needed driving lessons. i had to learn to drive and learn FAST as I was catching 3 buses to and from Uni!

God promises us that He cares and loves our families more than anything. That is the confidence we have.

It takes a lot of faith and trust to believe and see the promises of God come to pass. Many a times, things may seem to get worse before they get better. As a family, we are encouraged by some of our answered prayers. We also know some families personally, who are walking in Gods promises and that inspires us. We continue to hope and trust in Him. The verse below summarises our mission as a family. Looking to the Lord for help always. We love the assurance in “never”, what a promise!!

“Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame”. ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭34:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This is our journey, hope you have been inspired. Would love to hear how your journey as a family is panning out.

    Be hopeful, always ❤
